Iridium provides 2400 bps data. The effective internet speed can be significantly
improved using compression software (included with the data kit). The data kit also includes
a 9-pin female D-style serial port attachment (shown right) for your computer.
If your computer does not have a serial port, Outfitter Satellite offers a PCMCIA card adapter.

download the rest of your email. The large attachment can be downloaded later via a web interface when you have a
conventional (terrestrial-based) high speed internet connection.

using, we can provide support. In addition to Iridium's standard Iridium software package, Outfitter Satellite offers

interfer with other email and web applications.

Computers without Serial Ports

The Iridium phone requires that you have a 9-PIN RS232 serial port on your computer. If not, Iridium recommends the
use of a PCMCIA-type serial adapter. Outfitter Satellite has found that in many cases certain USB-to-serial adapters
will also work, though there are some types of computers and operating systems that do not function correctly with this
configuration. We stock a variety of adapters and our technical support staff will be glad to consult with you.
* Direct Internet service achieves a nominal 10,000 bps speed using compression software. Most
Windows operating systems are supported, however implementation is sometimes subject to interference by your computer's
hardware configuration. Actual
performance varies
depending on the compressability of the data being transmitted.
